Alastair Purdy


Alastair began his early career with IBEC where he represented both indigenous and multinational companies in all areas of employment law before various employment rights fora such the Employment Appeals Tribunal, Labour Court, Rights Commissioner and Equality Tribunal.

He has held senior positions in industry, most notably as World Wide HR Director (Manufacturing) for Analog Devices. He also lectured on strategic HR as the Irish Management Institute and Employment Law in the Law Society. After leaving industry Alastair started his own solicitors practice with the purpose of providing advice to employers. Today the practice has offices in Dublin and Galway providing expert advice to employers nationwide.

Alastair acts for clients in various employment claims such as unfair dismissals, equality/discrimination, occupational stress, health and safety, corporate governance, trade disputes, industrial relations and general litigation. Alastair also assists clients with restructuring and redundancy programmes and advises on corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.

Alastair is widely published in the area of employment law. He published his first book on employment law in 2006 and a second edition of this book titled “Termination of Employment – A Practical Guide for Employers” was completed in 2012. He completed his third book titled “Equality Law in the Workplace” in 2015. He is a graduate of NUIG in Galway where he studied Economics. Subsequent to this, he studied law and qualified as a Solicitor. He is widely recognised as one Ireland’s leading Practitioners in the area of employment law and HR.

Siobhan McGowan


Siobhan obtained her B.A. (Hons) Degree and LL.B. (Hons) Degree from NUI Galway. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 after achieving the Law Society First Prize in Commercial Law. Siobhan went on to practice in Dublin for 4 years in the areas of residential conveyancing and litigation and on returning west of the Shannon, Siobhan joined the practice of F.M. FitzGerald & Co. in 2006 which subsequently merged with the practice of Purdy Legal to become Purdy FitzGerald Solicitors. Siobhan continues to practice in the area of conveyancing, however, also specialises in Personal Injury Actions and Employment Law, having obtained the post graduate Law Society Diploma in Employment Law in 2009. Siobhan acts for a wide range of clients from individuals through to large corporate entities.

Einde O'Donnell


Einde is a solicitor who has extensive experience in all aspects of employment law, employers’ liability and health and safety at work. From an employment law perspective this includes advisory work on contentious and non-contentious issues as well as representation of employers and employees in employment disputes such as unfair dismissal, trade disputes, equality and discrimination claims. He advises on a broad range of contentious issues such as: discrimination, bullying and harassment, pay issues, working time issues, stress at work, wrongful and unfair dismissal, collective and individual redundancies and industrial relations. On the non-contentious side, he advises on all issues arising in connection with business acquisitions, transfer of undertakings and drafting of contracts and service agreements.

Einde also has vast experience in dealing with personal injury litigation both from a defence and a plaintiff’s perspective. He has advised Irish and international insurance companies in relation to all aspects of insurance litigation, including employers’ liability, public liability, product liability and motor claims. He also advises self-insured companies in relation to risk management practices and handling of claims.

Mark Killilea


With over 20 years experience as a Solicitor, Mark has worked at a high level and has wide ranging experience in most areas of legal practice. His areas of specialisation are in family law, separation and divorce, personal injury claims, medical negligence, commercial law, sale of companies, shareholders agreements and employment.

He holds an Honours Degree in Bachelor of Law (LLB) from University College Galway and after qualifying as a Solicitor in 1995 he became a partner in his own practice in Dublin until 2012 when he returned to Galway and joined Purdy Fitzgerald as a Consultant.

Fiona Burke


Fiona Burke is a native of Galway who has recently returned to join the Purdy FitzGerald team She has over 29 years of experience in the legal profession, having previously worked in Limerick. She has extensive experience in the areas of Conveyancing (both Residential and Commercial), Litigation and all aspects of Probate/Wills. 

She is a graduate of the University of Limerick and holds a Diploma in Legal Lawyering and Ethics from the Law Society of Ireland.

Fiona works three days in the Galway Office and two days in Limerick providing a service to many clients both new and old in the Limerick area.
